What motivates us

Karate teaches that life is a path.

Not a competition with others — a measure against who we were yesterday.

When the path is right, we become better with each day. Karate is a discipline open to anyone willing to begin. We want to make it more open still — through software that frees the sensei to teach, not administer. So students see their progress, feel the pull of what they've earned, and keep walking.

Becoming, day by day, better than they were.

What it is

The sensei's digital notebook, open to students.

The sensei keeps the training and competition schedule, marks attendance, and awards points and in-app currency for achievements. Students see their progress, leaderboard position, requirements for the next belt, and can spend earned currency on rewards in the dojo shop. No ads. No analytics.

The name

自然体 (shizentai) means "natural body" — the state of readiness and inner calm before action. A karate practitioner enters shizentai after the command "yoi," before executing a technique. The app is a digital shizentai: everything ready, everything visible, nothing to search for.

Principles

What sets Shizentai apart.

One sensei, one club

Clubs are isolated. No cross-club rankings, no shared tournaments, no marketplace.

No ads. No trackers. No data sales

An ethical stance, not a marketing tactic. No third-party analytics SDKs, no ad blocks.

Free for everyone

No paid tiers, no premium features, no paywalls. Ethics stays ethics only when there are no exceptions "for paid users."

The economy is the sensei's, not the platform's

All prices and earning rules are set by the sensei. The platform does not propose "recommended prices."

Children 6+ are first-class users

No "junior mode," no simplified UI. The same interface, with min 44pt tap targets and direct verbs.

Open source, MIT licensed

Anyone can fork, audit, run their own copy. Transparency builds trust.

Product family

Not one app — a small family.

Each product is separate and self-contained. One brand, shared principles. No product requires the others to work.
